Brenda Barnett (Kays) Bishop

Brenda Kays Barnett Bishop, age 77, of Danville, KY passed away at 2:40 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026 at her home.

She was born in Lebanon, KY on September 10, 1948 to the late Earl Chester and Mattie Lewis Kays.

She was a 1966 graduate of Springfield High School and a member of the New Beginnings Community Church and a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Gene David Barnett on June 4, 1997 and Larry Allen Bishop on February 16, 2024 and two sisters, Connie Graham on August 13, 2025 and Linda Hayes on March 29, 2026.

Survivors include a son, Gene David Barnett, Jr. (Mindy) of Springfield; a daughter, Amanda Barnett Byrne (Deron) of Danville; four grandchildren, Cullen Byrne Mason (Blake), Gentry Byrne Bean (Chapman), Gene David “Trey” Barnett, III and James Wesley Barnett; four great grandchildren, James Brooks Bean, Baker Elliott Mason, Eden Jane Bean and Mattie Blake Mason and a sister, Janie Bird (Mike) of Frankfort.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, July 8th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Wilson officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Chapman Bean.

Burial will be on Cemetery Hill in Springfield.

Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Barnett, Wes Barnett, Blake Mason, Chapman Bean, Ethan Bird and Truman Needham.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Wednesday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
