Bobby Jewell Prather

Bobby Jewell Prather, age 88, of Louisville, KY formerly of Chaplin, passed away at 2:23 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Glen Ridge Health Campus in Louisville.

A native of Nelson County, he was born on February 22, 1935 to the late Cecil and Nora Hood Prather.      

He was a member of the Okeechobee Christian Church, a 1955 graduate of Bloomfield High School, a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 57 F & A.M. and a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville.

Bobby had a wonderful life, he enjoyed fishing and house boating on Lake Cumberland, square dancing with his wife, and once retired, he enjoyed spending the winters in Okeechobee, Florida.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Frances Seay Prather on April 2, 2009.

Survivors include his daughter, Patty Whitney (Craig) of Jamestown; a son, Lynn Prather (Kristin) of Ocala, Florida; three grandchildren, Ross Whitney (Krystina), Lee Carby (Adam) and Aaron Prather (Shelby); four great grandchildren, Alexa Whitney, Clara Whitney, Charlotte Prather and Camilla Prather and two sisters, Mildred Simpson and Margaret Holt both of Chaplin.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17th at the Chaplin Christian Church with Bro. Doug Simpson, officiating.

Burial will be in the High View Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home and after 9:30 Tuesday morning at the church.
