William Edward “Bill” Gordon, age 74, of Lebanon, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Lebanon, Kentucky on June 19, 1946 to the late Donal Edward and Ruby Louise Hill Gordon.
He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, a 1964 graduate of Springfield High School, served in the Army Reserve, was a retired Kentucky State Police Trooper, a former Lebanon city police officer and a former employee of the Marion County Detention Center.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Rita Jean Cheser on December 22, 2018.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Chism Gordon; a son, David Gordon (April) of Lebanon; three daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Horn (Joey) of Springfield, Joan Marie Abell (Scott) and Kathy Renee Mills (Greg) of Lebanon; eight grandchildren and two brothers, Bruce Gordon (Judy) of Springfield and Johnny Gordon (Jackie) of Kennesaw, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Elmore, officiating.
Burial will be on Cemetery Hill in Springfield where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard and the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Sooter, Johnny Masterson, Barry Brady, Wally Brady, Gordon Webb, Dr. Tom Tucker, Gil Sullivan, Bill Garrett, Mitchell Wheatley, Don Courtwright, Tony Thompson, Spencer Clark and Danny McFall.
Serving as casket bearers will be Dylan Abell, Scott Abell, Alex Cheser, Danny Owen, Tim Chism and Gregg Potter.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Tuesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
