Betsy (Bottom) Roney

Elizabeth “Betsy” Bottom Roney, age 85, of Springfield, KY passed away at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the McDowell Place in Danville where she had resided for the past two years.

A native of Washington County, she was born on November 12, 1936 to the late Owen “Dick” and Edith Milburn Bottom.

She was a member of the Open Arms Community Church Church, a 1953 graduate of Springfield High School and a forty-six year employee of the Springfield State Bank where she began working in 1953 and retired in 1999, during her employment there she served as vice-president and cashier.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Godbey Dean Roney on April 26, 2017; two brothers, John Davis “Bud” Bottom on November 25, 2000 and Donald Bottom on October 24, 2020 and a nephew, John D. Bottom, Jr. on January 11, 2018.

Survivors include her two sons, Darin Roney (Julie) of Perryville and Mark Roney (Dana) of Lebanon and four grandchildren, Conner Davis Roney, Nicholas Dean Roney, Morgan Alexis Roney and Danielle Elizabeth-Jane Roney; a nephew, Donnie Bottom and three great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3rd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Donnie Bottom and John Russell, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Perryville.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nancy Baker, Lou Butler, Beverly Benedict, Debbie Russell, Ann Faye Sallee, Brenda Carrico, Connie Terrell, Doris Purdom and Carol Taylor.

Serving as casket bearers will be Donnie Bottom, Owen Bottom, Sam Bottom, Lance Russell, Terry Young and Teddy Eldridge.

Visitation will be after 12 Noon Tuesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
