Alfonzo Railey, age 91, of Springfield, KY passed away at 5:15 a.m., Monday, May 17, 2021at the Valhalla Post Acute Care Center in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, he was born on April 6, 1930 to the late James David and Theresa Edelen Railey.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a retired employee of the Armour Food Company and a retired farmer.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Martha Porter Railey on October 15, 2006; a daughter, Margaret Hocker on January 13, 2021; three sisters, Susie Phillips, Prudence Yocum and George Ann Wells and seven brothers, Thomas, Joe, William, John Henry, James David, Len Arthur and George A. Railey.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Railey (Kathy) of Louisville and three daughters, Mary Virginia Clack, Elizabeth Ann Railey and Mary Stella Railey all of Bardstown; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 21st at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Edmund Ditton, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Williams, Kevin Clack, John Walker and Demetrius Buford.
Serving as casket bearers will be Steve Hodgens, Joey Hughes, DeQuan Hocker, DeJuan Hocker, Marvin Graves and Travis Williams
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 Thursday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
